TRUE OR FALSE?
Disneyland on July 17, 1955
Opening Day was very crowded, mainly because a talented forger had created
thousands of fake entry tickets and was selling them from his home
overlooking the Santa Monica Bay. For years after this, people referred to
buying low quality items as "shopping at the bay."
Almost half a century later, the term was immortalized when "shopping
at the bay" became "eBay."

TRUE OR FALSE?
Disneyland on July 17, 1955 Opening Day Morning, before
the park opened, Walt Disney walked the park to be sure it was ready to
open he was disappointed when he saw there were so many areas unfinished.
As a distraction, he ordered name tags printed for dozens of employees
with Latin names on the tags. He felt that the fancy-sounding names might
distract some of the guests from the other problems, and give them the impression the park was
filled with foreign intellectuals.

ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America…with the hope
that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world."

TRUE OR FALSE?
In 1955 at Disneyland, employee 'cast members' were not counting the people boarding the River Belle and the riverboat was filled way beyond capacity and sunk at the far end of Tom Sawyer Island. Fortunately there were no significant injuries, but the boat was so large and sank so deep that it could not be raised. Years later, filmmaker James Cameron went down in a submersible and filmed the wreckage as part of an Imax film. A year later the River Belle was replaced with the Mark Twain, and the few pieces of wreckage that floated to the surface were are on display at the River Belle Terrace Restaurant.
